peta2, PETA's youth division, is giving teens the opportunity to vote for their favorite animal-friendly stars in its sixth annual Libby Awards (“Libby” is for “liberation”), which honor animal-friendly people and products.

Visitors to peta2.com can vote for their favorites in each category, and peta2 will choose the winners.

In the category of Top Animal-Friendly Celebrity, Glee star Lea Michele—who stood up for horses used to pull carriages in New York City—will face off against Jackass’s Steve-O, who protested outside the Edmonton Valley Zoo to call on zoo officials to allow Lucy (the ailing and lone elephant there) to retire to an elephant sanctuary; Victorious star Daniella Monet, who filmed an exclusive video for the peta2 Street Team promoting Hug a Vegetarian Day; and Cobra Starship’s Gabe Saporta, who fought to defend his title of peta2’s Sexiest Vegetarian on Twitter and Facebook, and who also starred in a peta2 anti-fur ad.

In the category of Most Animal-Friendly Pop/Hip-Hop Artist, Justin Bieber, the star of a pro-adoption campaign, is up against Ke$ha, who campaigned against the Canadian seal slaughter and even wrote a letter to McDonald’s urging the fast-food chain to require its suppliers to adopt a less cruel method of slaughtering chickens. Twilight’s Christian Serratos, who encouraged students to choose humane alternatives to school dissection, is up for Favorite peta2 Hottie. And The Ready Set—aka “Jordan Witzigreuter”—is nominated for Most Animal-Friendly Band thanks to Witzigreuter’s pro-activism campaigns and his invitation to peta2 to join The Ready Set on tours across the country.

“Our nominees have all worked hard to shine their spotlights on a variety of important animal issues,” says peta2 Division Manager Marta Holmberg. “As our accomplished stars demonstrate, compassion isn’t just a virtue—it’s also a road to success.”

Twenty-nine Libby Awards will be given out this year, recognizing everything from the best cruelty-free cosmetics company to Street Teamer of the Year. Each winner will receive a framed certificate and be featured on peta2.com.

For more information about all the nominees, visit peta2.com.

Voting ends on December 23, and the winners will be announced on January 17. The winners will be chosen by peta2 based on equal consideration of three factors: the number of votes received, the quality of the animal-friendly product or the nominees’ enthusiasm for being animal-friendly, and feedback from the nominees’ fans.
