Aisha Tyler provided entertainment at the City of Hope Spirit of Life Dinner at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas on July 30.

The event honored Joico Senior Vice President and General Manager Sara Jones with the 2011 Spirit of Life Award. A longtime supporter of City of Hope and of issues relating to salon professionals and their clients, Jones has taken advantage of her role as a corporate leader to generate awareness and funds for a variety of causes, such as breast cancer, both within the Joico family and within the larger sphere of the beauty industry.

“The City of Hope is a groundbreaking facility for compassionate care and pioneering research,” Jones says. “At Joico, we never stop seeking out new ideas for attaining healthy, beautiful hair. The team at City of Hope never stops seeking out ideas for recovering beautifully healthy lives. Together, I believe we can make an important difference in the lives of beauty industry professionals, salon clients and women around the world, and I am thrilled to be [the] Spirit of Life honoree.”

City of Hope is a leading research and treatment center for cancer, diabetes and other life-threatening diseases. The organization’s Professional Salon Industry Division was established in 1981 with the purpose of establish a continuous flow of industry support for the City of Hope. It is an annual tradition to honor outstanding leaders in the industry for their contributions both in business and through philanthropy in the community, with the Spirit of Life Award. Since its inception, this division has raised millions of dollars for City of Hope’s research and treatment programs.
