Actress Sandra Bullock has received an honor for her charity work.
The star was inducted into New Orleans’ Warren Easton High School Hall of Fame for her help rebuilding the school after Hurricane Katrina on Friday night.
The high school suffered over $4 million in damages after Katrina struck in August 2005, but funds were boosted when Bullock donated tens of thousands of dollars for a scholarship program, new band uniforms and renovations to the auditorium.
Although the city’s school board decided not to reopen the school, a group of alumni petitioned in 2006 to open it as a charter school.
Bullock has said that her donations were the best investment she ever made.
