In October, multi-platinum Streamsound recording artist Kristian Bush of Sugarland and Goodwill Industries International announced their #GiveItAway partnership to encourage donations of used clothing and goods.

To get in the holiday spirit and help kick off the new campaign, Bush and Goodwill are teaming up for a full-band concert and donation event, sponsored by KKBQ-FM “The New 93Q” in Houston, TX, to be held on Thursday, December 11 at the Big Texas Dancehall (South). Fans are encouraged to bring either an item or financial donation for FREE entry into the concert event, with all donations benefiting Goodwill Houston.

The #GiveItAway campaign was sparked by Bush’s Top 30-and-climbing single, “Trailer Hitch,” which reminds us that we collect so many things that we don’t need and we can’t take it with us when we go… so why not “give it away”? The goal of the campaign is to raise awareness of Goodwill’s mission to transform lives through the power of creating jobs.

“This feels perfect,” says Bush of this upcoming concert. “KKBQ was the first radio station I visited to play my new music at the start of this year. So now it just seems right to wrap up this amazing 2014 with a big holiday blowout in Houston. I’m excited that I get to use my partnership with Goodwill to do something good for this community, and I hope country fans will come out for a great night of live music in the name of giving back.”

Using the catchy, irresistible hook of “Trailer Hitch,” Bush is helping to spread the word that when fans “give it away” to Goodwill, the revenue from the sale of their donated clothing, electronics, and small household goods goes directly to create employment opportunities for people in their communities with disabilities or disadvantages.

“The simple act of giving away what you no longer need builds independence and dignity for people who need support to provide for themselves and their families,” said Jim Gibbons, president and CEO of Goodwill Industries International. “Bush’s message in ‘Trailer Hitch’ aligns perfectly with Goodwill’s mission by helping people realize the impact they have by donating the items they no longer need to Goodwill.”

“Trailer Hitch” brings Bush’s voice to the foreground and is the lead single from his forthcoming debut solo album, SOUTHERN GRAVITY (Streamsound Records), executive produced by Byron Gallimore. “Trailer Hitch” is available on iTunes.
