In 1998, Jemima launched Jemima Khan Ltd., a clothing company that employed poor Pakistani women to embroider western clothes with delicate eastern handiwork. Profits were donated to Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital & Research Centre in Lahore.
Has been a UNICEF Ambassador since 2001.
From 2003 to 2005, she was a spokesperson for UNICEF’s End Child Exploitation campaign. She has visited Kenya, Afghanistan, Abbottabad and Pakistan with UNICEF, and has also supported their Breastfeeding Manifesto and the Make Poverty History campaign.
