Roger Waters wants other musicians to boycott performing in Israel because it is “the most effective way to go because the situation is that the Israeli government runs an apartheid regime in Israel, the occupied territories and everywhere else it decides.”
The former Pink Floyd rocker – who is a juror on the Russell Tribunal on Palestine – has revealed in an interview with Electronic Intifada that he is thinking of recording a single urging artists to avoid Israel. He will also publish an open letter asking members of the music industry to join the boycott.

The Russell Tribunal acts as a court of the people, a Tribunal of conscience, faced with injustices and violations of international law, that are not dealt with by existing international jurisdictions, or that are recognized but continue with complete impunity due to the lack of political will of the international community. Its supporters also include Harry Belafonte, Julie Christie, Miriam Margolyes, Henning Mankell, Harold Pinter and many more.
