On April 5, 2013 amfAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research, will return to Brazil for its third annual Inspiration Gala in São Paulo.

The gala, once again held at the home of Dinho Diniz, will feature tributes to two honorees: Iconic Brazilian athlete Pelé will be presented with the Humanitarian Award, and pop star Fergie will be presented with the amfAR Award of Inspiration.

amfAR’s Global Fundraising Chairman Sharon Stone, supermodel Kate Moss, and burlesque artist Dita Von Teese will travel to Brazil to help raise awareness and critical funds for AIDS research at the Inspiration Gala. Ms. Stone and Ms. Moss will serve as Event Chairs alongside amfAR Chairman Kenneth Cole and Honorary Chairs Dinho Diniz and Felipe Diniz.

The event will include cocktails, gala dinner, fashion presentations, and a host of special performances. One of Brazil’s most influential and legendary musicians, former Brazilian Minister of Culture Gilberto Gil, will perform a set of his beloved songs. Longtime friend of amfAR Dita Von Teese will bring her famed burlesque act to Sao Paulo. Brazil’s own acclaimed samba musician Seu Jorge will also perform.

Each year, the Inspiration Galas revolve around a different design theme; this year, décor and guests’ attire will draw inspiration from a black tie/athletic-inspired theme. Sponsors for the Inspiration Gala include Luxury Sponsor Louis Vuitton, Presenting Sponsor Iguatemi São Paulo, Angra Partners, and Lilly Sarti. Hugo Boss is the event’s Fashion Presentation Sponsor, luxury beverages will be provided by Moët & Chandon and Belvedere, and Silvia Furmanovich is the Gala Dinner Sponsor. Vogue Brazil is the event’s Media Partner. Delta Air Lines is the Official Airline of amfAR.

The Inspiration event series was launched in 2010 by amfAR and Josh Wood Productions to celebrate all aspects of men’s style. Previous Inspiration events have taken place in New York, Paris, and Los Angeles, raising more than $6 million in total for AIDS research.
