Hollywood actress, Eva Longoria, is visiting London this week to present one of the UK’s most prolific philanthropists with an award for his dedication to charity.
John Caudwell, founder of the UK charity Caudwell Children and prominent charity donor, is to be presented with the 2012 ‘Noble Gift Philanthropreneur Award’ at a glittering awards ceremony at ME London on The Strand this week (December 8th 2012).
Mr Caudwell, who successfully developed his mobile phone business from nothing to an annual turnover of over £1 billion before selling to private investors in 2006, donates millions each year to support causes close to his heart; including the charity he founded in 2000, Caudwell Children, which provides practical and emotional support for disabled children and their families.
The award forms part of The Noble Gift Gala, a unique international fundraising initiative which stages events in Los Angeles, Paris, Toronto, Madrid and London to support charitable causes and recognise the World’s leading philanthropists.
Receiving awards alongside Mr Caudwell at the event will be humanitarian, Ella Krasner, Sylvia Young OBE and star of the Black Eyed Peas and BBC TV’s ‘The Voice’, will.i.am.
On hearing of his nomination, Mr Caudwell commented: "It’s a true honour to be recognised in this way, especially alongside such respected humanitarians as Ella, Sylvia and Will. The Noble Gift Gala movement is successfully bringing the world of business, charity and celebrity together with a shared interest in helping sections of the global community who are less fortunate than ourselves; which in these times of global austerity is more important than ever.
“I feel very fortunate to have the ability to help others and therefore take my role as a philanthropist very seriously, ensuring that I support causes that use my donations in the most effective and efficient way possible.
“It is the first time I have heard the term ‘Philanthropreneur’ but I think it sums up my approach to charity perfectly as I utilise the same instincts and expertise in philanthropy as I have always done in my business ventures. I’m looking forward to being a part of this spectacular event and joining like-minded people sharing a common interest in helping others.”
John founded Caudwell Children in 2000, since that time the charity has grown to become one of the UK’s leading independent providers of support for disabled children and their families. By covering the charity’s annual administration and management costs through a single personal donation, John Caudwell has provided fellow benefactors transparency and peace of mind that 100% of their donation was being used to directly change children’s lives.
The Noble Gift Gala takes place on Saturday December 8th at ME London on The Strand. The evening will be hosted by Spice Girl, Mel B, and entertainment will be provided by Stooshe and magician, Dynamo.
Proceeds from the event will be shared between the The Eva Longoria Foundation, Fight for Life and Caudwell Children.
