Michael Capponi, hospitality entrepreneur and humanitarian, is celebrating his birthday in a big way by hosting a birthday party fundraiser benefiting the non-profit he founded, Haiti Empowerment Mission.

This year’s Carnaval themed celebration will showcase the progress and development Capponi’s team has made in providing quality education, diverse vocational training and job creation to the community members of Jacmel; an area which was directly affected by the 2010 earthquake.

Host committee members Donna Karan, Maria Bello, Lord Edward Spencer-Churchill, Dayssi and Paul Kanavos, Seth Greenberg and Jason Binn will join the evening which will begin with a silent auction at the VIP reception and exhibition by Peter Tunney and Philippe Dodard. Later in the evening, guests will savor the taste of authentic Haitian cuisine while enjoying special performances by Haitian musicians Melky Jean and DJ Jus-Ske. The evening’s atmosphere will build on the captivating aesthetic of the Jacmel masks, and guests are encouraged to dress in festive attire. In lieu of gifts, guests will be making donations to the foundation.

The event is sponsored by Ludus, Marquis Vodka, Capponi Construction Group and Capitale; all proceeds from funds raised will benefit Haiti Empowerment Mission.

Haiti Empowerment Mission, a non-profit organization. The mission was founded by Michael Capponi in 2011, who has made over 60 support trips to Haiti since the tragic earthquake on January 12, 2010. The organization’s near-term goal is to empower the people of Haiti by providing quality education, diverse vocational training and job creation. The ultimate objective is to create opportunities for the people of Haiti to have a self-sufficient and sustainable economy, eliminating their dependency on foreign aid. Haiti Empowerment Mission’s administrative overhead is underwritten by Capponi Group Corp & Capponi Construction Group LLC, therefore alleviating all operating cost so all funds raised directly benefit the people of Haiti. HEM is forever grateful to Donna Karen & Urban Zen for funding the 2011-2012 school year for these students.
