Selena Gomez and Lucy Liu have once again blogged for the US Fund for UNICEF's 12 Days of UNICEF campaign.

Both stars have followed up last week’s blogs with new gift ideas that benefit UNICEF’s mission around the world.

“21,000 young children die every day from causes we already know how to prevent – like malnutrition, poor sanitation and lack of safe, drinkable water,” writes Selena in her new blog post. "UNICEF’s mission is to make that number zero. By purchasing a UNICEF Inspired Gift, we can help UNICEF achieve that goal.

UNICEF Inspired Gifts are actual lifesaving items that you can purchase in honor of a loved one. Measles, for instance, kills more than 600 children every day, yet these deaths can be so easily avoided. Those who are lucky enough to survive may be left with life-long disabilities that can include blindness and brain damage. Fortunately, there’s a safe and easy answer. Just $24 will provide vaccines to immunize 80 children and keep them safe from this terrible disease.

“All you have to do is go to inspiredgifts.org, select the UNICEF item you like and select a card to let your loved one know what you’ve purchased. We’ll send the card on your behalf and your gift will be shipped to one of more than 150 countries where UNICEF works to children in need.”

Lucy has also written about her favorite gifts: "A big part of my Holiday celebration as a kid was making homemade snowflake ornaments cut out of construction paper and stars made of popsicle sticks and glitter. The holidays were always a time for creativity and I never skipped the chance to explore.

“Because education is so important to me, you can imagine how happy I was to learn that UNICEF offers children around the world opportunities to learn, even during periods of crisis. UNICEF’s School-in-a-Box kit – one of UNICEF’s Inspired Gifts available for purchase this holiday season – contains books, pencils, erasers, scissors and even a radio that help provide a temporary school for children in the midst of war, natural disasters and other emergencies. What’s really cool is that the aluminum lid of the box doubles as a blackboard.

“You have an opportunity to purchase this unique gift in honor of a loved one while providing at least 40 children with a temporary school and a chance to continue their education. Few gifts are as innovative as this temporary school for children.”
