Annie Lennox has announced her support for the charity Nordoff Robbins, launching the 2011 Christmas appeal to help raise £100,000 and transform the lives of vulnerable people.
The Christmas Appeal for Nordoff Robbins is set to raise £100,000 this festive season aiming to help some of the UK’s most vulnerable and isolated children and adults. With a UK wide campaign featuring an online wall of fame of celebrity supporters including Muse, Alfie Boe and Status Quo, the national specialist charity is asking supporters to donate every pound they can in these tough times, to fund 50,000 music therapy sessions needed to deliver in 2012 to vulnerable people.
“By donating to the fantastic music charity Nordoff Robbins this Christmas you’ll be giving the gift of music and help change the lives of vulnerable children & adults across the UK,” said Annie.
It is because of Annie’s passion for music and her own recognition of the unique power that music has in transforming lives that she has chosen to lend her support to the Nordoff Robbins Christmas Campaign by donating and fronting the campaign.
Annie understands the breadth and depth of the work Nordoff Robbins do in helping help people with a range of challenges including autism, dementia, mental health problems, stroke, brain injury, depression and, in some cases life-threatening or terminal illness, such as cancer. She knows that all of these people have one uniting factor – music dramatically improves their quality of life and can reach them in a way that nothing else can.
