On Friday, October 7, 2011, young cancer patients and their families gathered at the Ronald McDonald House New York's (RMH-NY) newly renovated AOL Media Room with Kevin Jonas, of the Jonas Brothers, to celebrate its unveiling.
The mission of the Ronald McDonald House Charities is to develop and support programs that are specifically designed to help improve overall quality of life for children. The Foundation’s core values focus on the important needs of children, celebrating the world’s diversity, staying true to heritage and being 100% accountable.
A total of 15 computers were donated, with each work station set up for one-on-one tutoring and group learning scenarios for children in treatment – as well as for their siblings staying at the House. The AOL Media Room has been aesthetically renovated to emulate happiness and designed to accommodate the users of the room – children, those in wheelchairs, and their siblings staying at the House.
Kevin Jonas is an ambassador and honoree of Variety’s Power of Youth initiative, encouraging young people everywhere to get involved in philanthropic and humanitarian causes. He is also very involved in a wide range of charities including children-focused organizations like: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, DoSomething.org, Make-A-Wish Foundation and MusiCares.
