Arcade Fire singer Win Butler has announced plans for a celebrity charity basketball game in his hometown of Montreal later this month.

The POP vs Jocks game will be part of the POP Monteal International Music Festival, and will feature members from bands such as Vampire Weekend, as well as the NBA’s Matt Bonner.

The game – on September 24 – will benefit the DJ Sports Club, a non-profit charity organization in Montreal’s South-West borough that offers programs in sports and education to youth between seven and 17 years of age.

Arcade Fire’s Régine Chassagne will be playing the organ to keep the festive spirit alive and the half time show will feature performances by Kid Koala, along with a world premiere bicycle symphony called DRONES composed by Richard Reed Parry of Arcade Fire.

This will be the sporting event of the year in Montreal, do not miss out! For tickets and more information, go to popmontreal.com or the McGill Sports Centre information desk.
