James Blunt was in Beirut this week to play a special show for a local charity.
The show, held on Monday night at the Beirut International Exhibition and Leisure Center, raised money for Tamanna, a charity based in Lebanon that grants wishes to critically ill children.
“The real stars in the world aren’t the people sitting in a room with everybody’s attention focused on them,” he said prior to the show. “The real stars are the people out there, the doctors and nurses, the people on the street, the people who are helping others.”
Any child between 3 and 18 years with a critical illness, living or being treated in Lebanon, is eligible for a wish. Tamanna serves children without regard to nationality, religion, socio-economic, or cultural background.
Turning a wish into reality empowers the child to combat the illness, giving hope at times of great stress and hardship. The impact of the wish on the physical and emotional state of the child can be significant.
A wish granted brings a little sunshine into lives that have been dominated by pain. It provides an escape from a difficult reality, lifting the spirits of the child and his family.
