On May 17, 2011, the U.S. Fund for UNICEF will give celebrity supporters a reason to sing their hearts out with the first-ever Playlist with the A-List celebrity karaoke benefit event.

Special guests, including Rita Wilson, Jack Black, Kristen Bell, Christian Slater, Angela Kinsey, Kyle Maclachlan, Lori Loughlin, James Denton, Roselyn Sanchez and Ryan Bingham, will perform live with the electrifying Rickey Minor Band to raise funds and awareness for UNICEF’s ‘Schools for Africa’ campaign.

In Sub-Saharan Africa alone, one out of every three children doesn’t get the chance to go to school due to poor quality teaching, poor water and sanitation facilities, cultural attitudes and poverty. UNICEF and the Nelson Mandela Foundation started ‘Schools for Africa,’ a campaign to promote education for all, with a special emphasis on girls, orphans, children living in extreme poverty and other vulnerable children.

UNICEF has saved more children’s lives than any other humanitarian organization in the world. Working in more than 150 countries, UNICEF provides children with health care, clean water, nutrition, education, emergency relief, and more. The U.S. Fund for UNICEF supports UNICEF’s work through fundraising, advocacy, and education in the United States.

The event will take place at the El Rey Theatre, 5515 Wilshire Blvd, LA, at 8pm on May 17.
