Australian singer Gabriella Cilmi is the first artist revealed to be performing at Age UK's inaugural Vitality Ball in May.

The ‘Sweet About Me’ singer will be joined by a line-up of special performers who will entertain a star-studded audience at London’s The Brewery in the City at 7.00pm on Thursday 5th May. Celebrity guests attending the event, hosted in partnership with E.on, will include Barbara Windsor, June Whitfield and Lionel Blair.

Guests will be treated to an evening of exclusive performances and entertainment, hosted by the stand-up comedian Roger Monkhouse, a regular writer on Channel 4’s comedy panel show ‘8 Out of 10 Cats’. There will also be a live auction on the night with a selection of exclusive prizes, including the chance to bid for four tickets to the FA Cup Final in May.

Gabriella, whose single ‘Sweet About Me’ was the most played song of 2009, said: “The Vitality Ball should be a really fun evening. I can’t wait to perform to all the special guests and celebrities who I hear will be there! Getting older is something which happens to us all, and Age UK does so much to help older people make the most of life. I hope the event will inspire people to dig deep and support the Charity’s great work.”

The Vitality Ball will be a vibrant celebration of the work carried out by Age UK, offering guests the chance to support an inspirational generation of older people. Funds raised through the evening will help reduce isolation and loneliness amongst people in later life, supporting vital services which help the one million older people living in the UK who say they are always or often feel lonely.

Age UK is the new force combining Age Concern and Help The Aged. The Charity provides free information, advice and support to over five million people, funds pioneering research into all aspects of getting older and offers services and vital support to help people enjoy a better later life.
