Youth Service America (YSA) announces Miley Cyrus will auction off clothing and accessories on eBay March 11 to benefit Get Ur Good On, an online community and partnership between YSA and Cyrus that connects youth to volunteer and service opportunities.
Items consist of exclusive clothing, shoes and autographed albums and DVD’s with proceeds benefiting Get UR Good On programming and youth-led initiatives. Highlights include signed Can’t Be Tamed and Breakout albums as well as Hannah Montana and Bolt DVD’s. The second such auction in a year, Cyrus raised more than $30,000 by auctioning off leather jackets, pictures and similar memorabilia last summer. A direct link to the auction, which starts at 6 pm EST, can be found at eBay or through GetUrGoodOn.org.
“Get Ur Good On has been set up because I want everyone to know these young people’s stories, what they have accomplished and for them to have a voice, said Cyrus. “Big or small, no matter what you may think, you have made a difference and changed a life.”
Cyrus and YSA – the global organization that improves communities by increasing the number and diversity of young people serving in substantive roles – created Get Ur Good On in 2009 due to the star’s passion for community service and influential role with youth internationally. Featuring blogs, contests, special events and multimedia content, Get Ur Good On has nearly 20,000 registered users.
“Young people are so influential and like Miley, YSA knows they can change the world with their actions,” said Youth Service America President and CEO Steve Culbertson. “This auction is a wonderful way to fund additional projects for Get Ur Good On.”
Recently, Get Ur Good On partnered with CharityCall to introduce GURGO.MOBI, the first-ever mobile application that boasts exclusive interactive Miley-content, access to her current charitable initiatives and the ability to search for similar volunteer opportunities throughout the United States.
Get Ur Good On awarded $50,000 in grants to 100 youth-led projects for YSA-related projects in 2010 including constructing libraries in Tanzania, California-based Habitat for Humanity home builds and raising awareness about youth poverty through 40 Hour Famines. Cyrus frequently travels to meet with Get Ur Good On participants, thanking them for finding their voices and taking action to solve the world’s toughest challenges.
