Singer Tom Waits is releasing a limited edition chap book to raise funds for homeless services in California and to bring attention to a growing problem in today’s hard times

It was planned that the book, “Seeds On Hard Ground”, would be released – via his website only – on February 22, 2011, with this edition limited to 1,000 copies each in North America and Europe.

However, due to overwhelming demand, a second edition of the “Seeds on Hard Ground” will be released on February 28th. The second edition will also be limited to 1000 copies each in North America and Europe but the color of the cover will be different.

The book was inspired by Michael O’Brien’s photographic portraits of the homeless. An abridged rearranged version of the poem will appear alongside O’Brien’s photographs in the book.

Both Waits and Anti Records are donating all proceeds of the poem to the Redwood Empire Food Bank, Sonoma County’s Homeless Referral Services and Family Support Center operated by Catholic Charities.

Orders can be placed here for the February 22nd release.
