Actor and comedian Simon Helberg, star of the CBS hit show “The Big Bang Theory” will celebrate his 30th birthday on December 9 by asking family, friends and fans to skip the gifts and support Save the Children's global education programs instead.
Hollywood funnyman Simon Helberg explains, "I didn’t need a milestone birthday, like my upcoming 30th, to know how fortunate I am. I realize that there are so many children in the world who never see another birthday due to their unfortunate circumstances. This year, I decided the best way for me to make a “Big Bang” for my birthday is to give back. As I celebrate with my friends, family and fans, I have asked that instead of gifts, a donation be made to the Save the Children. The on-going support Save the Children provides for schools, teachers and the community overall, ensures many more Happy Birthdays for children all over the world."

Save the Children, in partnership with governments and communities, provides early learning opportunities and basic education for millions of the hardest to reach children in more than 30 countries around the globe. Through Save the Children’s Rewrite the Future campaign, launched in 2006, more than 10 million children in conflict-affected countries are in school today, many of whom are attending school for the first time.
