George Clooney was honored for his charity work at a celebrity-studded event in New York City this week.
The Ripple Of Hope Awards, held at Chelsea Piers in Manhattan, were presented by the RFK Center for Justice and Human Rights. Clooney’s award recognized his work as a UN Messenger of Peace and his work in Darfur.
To celebrate the Ripple of Hope Awards, the organization is holding a special online celebrity charity auction, featuring lots such as dinner with Kevin Spacey, the chance to meet Andrea Bocelli, VIP tickets to see Ray Romano live in Las Vegas, dinner with Mario Batali, a meet-and-greet with Kevin Bacon, Luciano Pavarotti's cufflinks, George Clooney’s slippers and much more.
The auction runs until December 1, and can be accessed via CharityBuzz.com.
The RFK Center for Human Rights engages in long-term partnerships with human rights activists to initiate and support sustainable social justice movements. This year RFK staff travelled to Haiti to assess the situation six months after the earthquake. They joined Wyclef Jean as he distributed water to 300 people in a tent city. Wyclef won the 2009 RFK Ripple of Hope Award.
