Hugh Jackman has joined The Mentalist star Simon Baker in a special celebrity charity suicide prevention campaign in Australia.

RUOK? Day will take place on October 7, and encourages people to reach out and ask “Are You OK?”, to help stop little problems snowballing into larger problems.

The stars will be joined by a host of famous Australians, including actor Jack Thompson.

“Suicide is the biggest killer of 18-35 year olds in this country,” says Gavin Larkin, who founded the campaign. "We need to start talking about this as much as we talk about the road toll and the support of big stars like Jack, Hugh and Simon helps us do that.

“Simon and Jack have lent their talents to our tv and radio advertising and Hugh and YouTube sensation Natalie Tran will help us get the message out on-line. Our other big names are helping us at live events and through more traditional media. Some public identities are reluctant to put their name to suicide prevention campaigns, so we’re thrilled to have the support of these big names in tackling this national crisis.”

Other celebrities to help include sports stars Darren Lockyer and Wendell Sailor.
