Jason David's Corner Foundation (JDCF) held its Annual Celebrity Golf Classic on Friday June 25, 2010 at Lost Canyons Golf Club in Pasadena Simi Valley. The day brought together a kidney transplant recipient, Geronimo Hernandez, as well as a kidney donor, ABC7 news anchor Phillip Palmer.

Mr. Hernandez received a kidney transplant from his brother is 2004. Mr. Palmer donated a kidney to his long time friend in 2007. Both men were honorary golfers at the classic. The purpose of the event is to raise funds for kidney disease research and awareness. In only its second year, the golf classic has managed to raise its participant level and sponsorships.

Players in attendance included locals, business owners, and celebrities, NFL players and NBA/WNBA players; Jason David (NFL), Phillip Palmer (KABC news anchor), LaFern Cusack (ESPN radio host), William Cusack (Writer/Producer), Flex Alexander (Actor), Courtney Roby (NFL), Darnell Bing (NFL), Nicky McCrimmon (WNBA), Kyle and Chris Massey (Actors), Brian Cook (NBA), Hamza Abdullah (NFL), Husain Abdullah (NFL), Sabin Lomac (Comedian), Gavin Allen (Producer), Marlon McCree (NFL), Chris Hale (Hockey), and Lou Pizarro (Reality TV).

“The golfers loved the on-course entertainment we provided this year,” Kristel David, Vice President of JDCF, stated. “We featured a helicopter golf ball drop, giving our participants the opportunity to win $1,000. We could not have asked for a better turnout of players and sponsors.”

Proceeds will be donated to an organization that promotes the awareness of kidney disease.
