Oceana has announced that it will hold its inaugural Hamptons “Splash” Party on July 10, 2010 at the Water Mill, N.Y. home of Lois Robbins and Andrew Zaro.

The mid-summer event marks Oceana’s debut into the Hamptons community for an annual celebration of ocean conservation.

“Seventy-one percent of the planet is covered by the ocean, and it’s at a tipping point right now,” said Oceana board member Ted Danson. “The good news is that we still have a chance to turn the tide, and that is the message we want to communicate to our guests in the Hamptons.”

Danson is one of several special guests confirmed for the event. He will be joined by fellow Oceana board member and “Law & Order” star Sam Waterston. The evening will also feature a surprise musical guest.

“Our precious marine resources are being squandered and it’s time for us to take a stand,” said party host and event co-chair Lois Robbins. A member of Oceana’s Ocean Council, Robbins is the co-chair of the event along with Ocean Council Chair Susan Cohn Rockefeller. “Those of us who live and vacation in the Hamptons need to know how effectively and efficiently Oceana is fighting on our behalf to protect and restore our magnificent ocean environment,” Robbins added.

Oceana’s celebrity guests will also be joined by an exclusive group of prominent figures in the Hamptons, including Vera Wang and Arthur Becker, Ellen and Dan Crown, Sandi and Andrew Farkas, Tom and Lori Florio, Senator Frank Lautenberg and Bonnie Lautenberg, Tami and Fred Mack, Julie and William Macklowe, and Lizzie and John Tisch.

The event, which will overlook Scott Cameron Beach on Mecox Bay, will feature a cocktail reception and buffet dinner. The night will also include a live auction with the proceeds going to Oceana, as well as a presentation on Oceana and its mission.

“The Hamptons ‘Splash’ is more than an introduction of Oceana to the Hamptons community,”said event co-chair Susan Cohn Rockefeller. “We’re bringing together a coastal community and making its residents more active stewards for the oceans to ensure it is there in the healthiest way for our children and grandchildren.”
