Hollywood actor Hugh Grant collected a $116,000 grant for Marie Curie Cancer Care from Newman's Own Foundation.
Marie Curie Cancer Care will use the money to fund two Marie Curie Nurses for two years, who will provide free nursing care to terminally ill people in their own homes.
Hugh Grant, Nursing Ambassador for the charity said: “A bequest of this generosity will make a really big difference to our work. We are hugely indebted to Newman’s Own Foundation.”
Newman’s Own Foundation is a private, independent foundation established by the late actor Paul Newman that continues his commitment to donate all net profits and royalties earned from the sale of Newman’s Own products to charity.
The grant was announced by Bob Forrester, president of Newman’s Own Foundation, at a ceremony on May 5th.
“Paul Newman summed up his philosophy about giving in a simple statement, ‘what could be better than to hold out your hand to those less fortunate than you, or in any way use your good fortune to help make our world a better place’,” said Forrester. “Newman’s Own Foundation is pleased to be able to partner with Marie Curie Cancer Care and support the charity in providing free care to people with terminal cancer and other illnesses in the comfort of their own homes.”
Since 1989, Paul Newman and Newman’s Own Foundation have donated over $7.5 million to various charities in the U.K. and Ireland.
