Hollywood will host a special benefit screening of “Princess Kaiulani” followed by a Peruvian Cultural Celebration and Q&A session with the film’s star Q’orianka Kilcher tonight, Monday, May 10.

Among those expected to attend are Q'orianka Kilcher (The New World), Colin Farrell, Woody Harrelson, Chaske Spencer (New Moon) and many others.

Set against the dramatic island backdrop of Hawaii and based on the inspiring true story, Princess Kaiulani is a breathtaking romance about an unlikely heroine and her unwavering fight to defend the independence of her people. Monday’s screening will be followed by a Q&A with “Princess Kaiulani” star Q’orianka Kilcher, Peruvian entertainment , guest speakers, and an VIP after party featuring traditional Peruvian dance and music, Peruvian cuisine, appetizers, and hosted bar with exotic cocktails, Peruvian beer and a silent auction.

The event will benefit the Peruvian American Medical Society and the Peruvian community in an effort to bring aid and support to Peru’s flood victims and indigenous communities living on the front lines of Climate Change.

Every year during Peru’s cold season hundreds of children freeze to death. Only this year an estimated 80,000 people living high up in the Andes find themselves homeless, while having lost homes, livestock, and crops in Peru’s recent mudslides and floods.

Sadly, the two massive earthquakes in Haiti and Chile have left Peru’s humanitarian crisis largely ignored by the international media, making it hard to find aid and support for Peruvians in dire need of a helping hand.

“As the winter season in Peru approaches, it is more important than ever to offer support to the many families who find themselves without homes or shelter,” said Colin Farrell. “The floods which befell the people of Peru this year will leave countless thousands in dire danger. Many will perish as a result of having their homes destroyed. With no possibility of income and with such lack of funding and support it is up to every single member of the world society to help in any way they can to minimize the loss of life that is tragically inevitable”.

Founded in 2006 by actress-activist Q’orianka Kilcher , the on-Q initiative is a non-profit environmental and human rights organization sponsored by Earthways Foundation and is working to give a voice to the voiceless, especially indigenous peoples, youth advocates and the environment. For background, visit www.QonQ.org.

“The work that on-Q is doing on the ground in Peru and through fund raising in America and via the internet is essential,” said Colin Farrell. “Qorianka and on-Q initiative work with a skeleton crew meaning there are no administrative overheads. What you donate will find it’s way to those in dire need of your help. I fully support on-Q initiatives work and efforts in helping those who are finding it more and more difficult to help themselves. Please give all you can. You would be shocked to find how much so little can do.”

Doors open for the event at 6:30pm at The Historic Majestic Crest Theater, 1262 Westwood Blvd, Los Angeles , CA 90024. Find more info here.
