Supermodel Naomi Campbell has announced plans to hold a major charity event in Moscow on May 25, where she hopes to raise $1 million for the Iris Foundation and Northern Crown, two Russian charities which provide education, medicine and training for children.

Campbell, who has spent a good part of the year living in Moscow with her Russian boyfriend and property mogul Vladimir Doronin, has been inspired by the people to give back.

“I’m living here… everyone has been very nice to me and welcoming and I wanted to give back,” Campbell told Reuters in an interview in the Russian capital.

The event, called Neon, will be organized by Fashion For Relief and the Iris Foundation and will include a concert, a fashion show and an auction.

“I love doing things with kids…. I think what’s great is that Moscow will be the first,” said Campbell, adding that she hopes to take NEON to other countries after Russia.
