Boost Mobile celebrated its first retail store opening yesterday in Chula Vista California by making a $5,000 donation to benefit the San Diego After-School All-Stars, an organization led by San Diego Charger’s football player Shaun Phillips.

Boost Mobile representatives presented Phillips with a $5,000 check at the event which kicked off a week-long celebration that includes a special community event on Saturday, December 19 where Pulsar FM will broadcast live from the store from 12 noon – 2pm.

The donation will also benefit Phillips’ ‘Sack Attack’ program, a program where Phillips donates $1,000 for every “sack” he makes in the 2009-2010 season and local sponsors match his donations.

Earlier in the day, Phillips had spent the morning Christmas shopping for several of the children from the charity and next week, he’ll surprise the kids when he delivers the gifts to their homes.

“I love my After School All Star kids,” said Phillips while shopping, “I want to show them how much they mean to me, by not only raising money for them but also making sure I can touch people on an individual basis, If you can touch someone and bring someone up along with yourself, that’s the ultimate goal in life.”
