Look To The Stars’ UK Correspondent Richard Barker was fortunate enough to attend the biggest charity party in London on December 14, and filed this report.

The Saturdays and Daniel Merriweather appeared in Capital Rocks!, a charity ball in aid of Help a London Child on Monday. The black tie gala event, hosted by 95.8 Capital FM, saw performances from The Saturdays, Daniel Merriweather, as well as Britain’s Got Talent stars George Sampson and Stavros Flatley.

Hosted by London’s number one breakfast show hosts, Johnny Vaughan and Lisa Snowdon, the event raised over £260,000 for the charity. Celebrity guests included: Alesha Dixon who is an Ambassador for Help a London Child, model Jodie Kidd, X Factor finalist Rachel Adedeji, choreographer Brian Friedman as well as surprise guests Tinchy Stryder and Taio Cruz.

Held at stunning Old Billingsgate, overlooking the riverside, the event turned out to be as glamorous as its location. Guests arrived in black tie and were greeted with a champagne reception followed by a delicious three course dinner.

Daniel Merriweather said: “London is a fantastic city and I’m so lucky to be able to visit and enjoy all it has to offer. That’s not the case for some of the children who grow up here. I hope that tonight’s event raised awareness and funds to help kids enjoy the city they live in.”

Money-can’t-buy auction prizes included a holiday to Peru, an exclusive lunch with entrepreneur Peter Jones and sporting packages, such as tickets to watch Chelsea v. Arsenal in the Premier League, a Vodafone McLaren Mercedes Formula One group experience and a day in the life of a celebrity involving a professional makeover, couture shoe vouchers and a night out on the town with a group of friends.
