Bestselling children’s author, Dame Jacqueline Wilson, is backing the launch of a highly collectable range of enamel pin badges which are to be sold to raise funds for The Book Trade Charity. The badges, in the shape of Wilson’s best loved character Tracy Beaker, will be available from the 12th October in branches of Borders in the UK and Hughes & Hughes in the Irish Republic, and will have fans storming into shops to purchase them.

The pin badges – there are four designs each with a different pose – are priced at just £1.00, with all profits going to book trade’s own welfare charity. This unique and exciting cause-related marketing activity is a first for the organisation, one which has been made possible by Jacqueline Wilson, who has long supported its work and serves as its President.

As the charity’s Steve Crump explains; “We’re delighted to be working with the Tracy Beaker brand and we’re sure the badges will be a big hit with fans. What is more, Borders and Hughes Hughes have really pulled out the stops to help make this venture a success. All of their stores will be carrying these badges from the middle of October. Great news!”.

The Book Trade Charity is looking to hold an annual point of sale fundraiser that engages both the trade and the charity giving public, through the use of well-loved children’s literary characters. Working with the likes of Tracy Beaker is certainly the way the charity wishes to proceed; creating interest and excitement!
