Actress Cameron Diaz got down and dirty at charity project on the anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on Friday.

The star joined Boston Celtics players and about 125 volunteers in building a garden and basketball court at a school in Massachusetts. She spent two hours helping volunteers to assemble an elevated flower bed at the Young Achievers Pilot School, in the Mattapan neighborhood of Boston.

“She literally dug in and helped build some walled gardens at the school,” said Wyc Grousbeck, owner of the Boston Celtics. “She was hauling lumber, digging holes and hammering nails. She’s a really good person – not one of the phoneys.”
