When Jason David lost his cousin to kidney disease in 2007, he wanted to do everything in his power to not only raise awareness about the life-threatening disease, he wanted to do something to help out someone in his community battling the disease.

“My cousin, Shay, endured many surgeries before he passed away,” David said. “Shay never gave up and fought through all of his surgeries while battling kidney disease. It is important to me that I continue his fight for the sake of others who battle kidney disease.”

David will live up to that promise when he hosts the Jason David's Corner Foundation First Annual Celebrity Golf Classic at the Brookside Golf Club in Pasadena on Friday, June 26, 2009. Together with his NFL colleagues, ABC7 News anchor and kidney donor Phillip Palmer, and community members, David will play 18 holes of golf. This event will not only raise awareness about kidney disease, proceeds will go to a deserving community member whose life has been altered in their fight of the disease.

“I may not have all the money in the world, but through the foundation and the golf tournament I will make my contributions and try to get as much community involved as possible along the way.”

Registration and check-in for the golf tournament begins at 7 a.m. with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. Lunch will be served at 1 p.m. The cost for individual players is $175 and Foursomes are $660. Fee includes: Green fees, breakfast, lunch, commemorative photo, and gift bag. Corporate sponsorship ranges from $500 to $10,000.
