The Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, the world leading Foundation for the protection of the Global Ocean and the Planet’s Environment, today revealed the impressive list of international artists and superstars who will join HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco on September 26, 2019, at the third Monte-Carlo Gala for the Global Ocean, which is the world’s biggest charity fundraiser of today.

“Above all, the Ocean is a vital component for our global balance. It represents 97% of its biosphere. It is host to the majority of living species, produces most of the oxygen we breathe, regulates our climate and generates 60% of the ecosystem services which enable us to live. Sadly, however, the Ocean is also symbol of our irresponsibility. It suffers all the damage we inflict on our planet.” said HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco. “That’s why this year’s Gala for the Global Ocean in Monte-Carlo is so important. Let us hope that together we will be able to lay the foundations for a humanity built on respect for the sea and the planet. Let us be the voice of the Ocean and take action for future generations.”

Robert Redford will be welcomed as the Guest of Honor of this year’s event for his outstanding career and exceptional commitment for environmental protection.

Hollywood stars Uma Thurman and Andy Garcia will serve as Masters of Ceremony for the outstanding night dedicated to raising funds for the Foundation’s international projects and initiatives to support a sustainable and healthy ocean.

Andy Garcia declared “We can no longer remain silent in the face of the degradation of our seas due to pollution, overfishing, or intense maritime traffic. It is our duty to restore what we have destroyed. I am proud to be able to contribute to the foundation’s actions on the ground, supporting multiple marine conservation projects.”

Three-time GRAMMY Award winner Gwen Stefani, one of the world’s most talented and beloved vocalists; Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli; and music icons Kool & the Gang will be exclusively performing at the Gala to address the crucial challenges the world’s Ocean is facing, while The Masked Singer jury member Robin Thicke will host the extravaganza after-party at the ultra-chic Casino de Monte-Carlo’s private lounges until dawn.

Sophia AI, the latest human-like robot that has been described as the “personification of our dreams for the future of AI”, will also make a special appearance on the Global Ocean Gala stage and among prestigious guests.

Presided by HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco and founded by Global Fundraising Chairman Milutin Gatsby, the Gala will conclude a week of activities dedicated to the health of our Ocean. In bringing together global philanthropists, policy makers, business leaders, scientists and celebrities, HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco and his Foundation will once again take the lead to bring solutions to scale and address the existential crisis facing the world’s Ocean and its impact on our climate.

Milutin Gatsby said “We don’t have time anymore. We can hope and pray that OUR positive individual actions for saving Planet Earth will bring the light in ourselves and collectively stop the self-destruction of mankind.”

All proceeds from the Monte-Carlo Gala for the Global Ocean and its auction will support the Foundation’s Global Ocean initiatives, including the development of marine protected areas, the protection of threatened marine species, the mitigation of the impact of climate change and acidification on the Ocean as well as and the fight against plastic pollution. The Foundation has donated more than 55 million euros to initiate or support more than 470 projects around the world.
