The 19th Annual eBay for Charity Auction for Power Lunch with Warren Buffett sold to highest bidder at $3,300,100.00.

This year’s winning bid will support GLIDE's groundbreaking work in
alleviating the suffering and transforming the lives of San Francisco’s most vulnerable and marginalized residents.

GLIDE really takes people who have hit rock bottom and helps bring them back,” said Warren Buffett. “They’ve been doing it for decades. If I can help out by raising some money for them, then I enjoy doing it.”

“We are astounded by and truly thankful for the generosity of this year’s winning bidder and send our deepest gratitude to Mr. Buffett for his continued support and investment in the GLIDE community,” said GLIDE Co-Founder and Minister of Liberation Reverend Cecil Williams. “This one power lunch will help us to serve thousands with unconditional love and kindness.”

“We are overjoyed with the results of this year’s auction,” said GLIDE President and CEO Karen Hanrahan. “The money raised will provide direct support to help the disenfranchised transform their lives. As the need for GLIDE’s services continues to grow, this money allows GLIDE to remain a driving force for racial and economic equity in San Francisco and beyond.”

“Through the power of the eBay platform, each year we’re able to raise tens of millions of dollars for extraordinary organizations like GLIDE. The GLIDE/eBay auction marks our 16th year in working with GLIDE and we’re proud to have raised $3,300,100 this year,” said Devin Wenig, eBay’s President and CEO.

GLIDE’s 19th Annual eBay for Charity Auction for Power Lunch with Warren Buffett was offered through eBay for Charity. Bidding started at $25,000 and all bidders pre-qualified at eBay.com/GLIDE. The winning bidder and up to seven friends will have the opportunity to dine with Mr. Buffett at Smith & Wollensky in New York City.

For over 50 years, GLIDE has stood with the most vulnerable, including the poor and marginalized, those with illness, people of color, immigrants. GLIDE remains a place for all in need to find a warm meal, access to healthcare and shelter, childcare and family services, and someone to advocate for them. GLIDE serves roughly 750,000 free meals a year.

Over the past 18 years, the winning bids have ranged from $25,000 (prior to eBay’s involvement) to $3,456,789. Last year’s bid was $ $2,679,001. Funds raised go directly to support GLIDE’s programs. eBay hosted the auction for the 16th year in a row.

For more than fifty years, GLIDE has worked to create a radically inclusive, just and loving community mobilized to alleviate suffering and break the cycles of poverty and marginalization. Located in the culturally rich Tenderloin neighborhood of San Francisco, GLIDE serves a diverse cross-section of homeless, low-income and disenfranchised program participants, providing a comprehensive set of programs including free meals; HIV/Hep C testing and counseling; housing assistance; domestic violence counseling and abatement; substance use recovery; licensed childcare; afterschool and summer programs for youth; a resource center for families; free legal services; and access to free primary and behavioral health care. GLIDE has founded and sustained visionary programming and achieved tangible results for tens of thousands of individuals and families on the margins and remains a life-changing gateway to comprehensive care that embraces each person with dignity and respect.
