Domestic violence prevention and intervention organization, Jenesse Center and its long time ambassador Halle Berry announced the Imagine cocktail party fundraiser to be held Wednesday, June 27, 2018, 6:30pm – 10pm, at the Wilshire Country Club at 301 N Rossmore Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90004.

Sylvia Swilley M.D., Jenesse Board Fundraising Chair said, “As a pediatrician, I am especially concerned about the effects of domestic violence on children. On average, every mother comes to Jenesse with 2 children. The experience of violence and chaos during a critical time of brain development can have lifelong physical and mental consequences.”

The goal of Imagine is to elevate the conversation around the topic of violence towards women, girls and men and advocate the human right of peace in everyone’s homes, workplaces and relationships.

Jenesse Ambassador Halle Berry said, “One in four women will experience domestic violence in their lifetime. This is why for 17 years, I have worked with Jenesse first hand to bring awareness to this life-or-death cause. I am proud of the achievements we have made to heal women, girls and families ravaged by violent homes and relationships.”

Leaders from business, non profit, media, entertainment and government sectors are invited to attend. The event will shine a light on organizations and individuals who have moved the mission forward to raise funds and bring awareness to the issue, provide funding and relief to survivors and use their voice to stop the cycle of domestic violence.

Dr. Swilley said, “Experiencing domestic violence during childhood increases the likelihood that the girls will become victims and the boys will become perpetrators as adults because toxic relationships are ingrained and have become normative. The comprehensive intervention programs of Jenesse, along with innovative projects such as Jeneration J, work to break the cycle. Imagine gets us closer to the goal of being able to offer comprehensive programs to all in need.”

Berry said, “I look into the faces of women who could have been dead, but because of the help Jenesse provided, they are alive and thriving with hope, purpose and a new outlook on their lives. Because of Jenesse, I see young people learning the fundamentals of healthy relationships before they have their first kiss, so they have a greater chance of recognizing the early signs of dating violence later in their lives. We hope that our guests will join us for the Imagine event and join us in the mission to make a difference in lives of people who need our help.”

Jenesse CEO Karen Earl said, “Jenesse is moving into 40 years of service. We want to celebrate the people and organizations who understand the impact of violence in the home and how it affects the lives of children, families and the community. Most days I receive a beautiful success letter from a client who’s sharing her story about her impossible struggle and how the Jenesse family of staff, friends, supporters and champions changed her life. That’s what Imagine is all about. And we’re not done!!!!!!!”

Earl said, “We’re grateful to the #MeToo and #TimesUp movements and all the advocates. Our understanding is that the goal of these movements is to shine a light on survivors and uplift them in the most affirming and positive ways, ensuring they know that they can finally exhale and their futures are bright. This is the work Jenesse does every day – hash tags and without hashtags.”
