Speaking to competitors, Prince Harry said, “I hope you’re ready to see courage and determination that will inspire you to power through the challenges in your own life. I hope you’re ready to see role models in action that any parent will want their children to look up to.”

Earlier in the day, Prince Harry held bilateral meetings with David Johnson, The Governor General of Canada, The Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau and the First Lady of the United States Melania Trump.

Prince Harry founded the international sporting event in 2014 after a visit in to the US-based Warrior Games. Seeing the amazing affect the competition had on wounded, injured and sick service men and women and their families, Prince Harry was inspired to expand the concept into an international version, involving soldiers from across the world.

Over the course of the next week, ex-service personnel will take part in up to 12 different sports. Prince Harry is due to watch all of them.
