The Veterans Consortium (TVC) is honored to announce that Lee Woodruff, co-author of the best-selling book, In an Instant, contributor to CBS This Morning and co-founder of the Bob Woodruff Foundation, will serve as Master of Ceremonies for the TVC Silver Anniversary Dinner and Pro Bono Program Awards Banquet on October 4, 2017, at Union Station in Washington, DC.
TVC and the federal Pro Bono Program are celebrating 25 years of pro bono service to veterans and their families, caregivers and survivors. Attendees will include the veterans we serve, members of TVC’s Nationwide Volunteer Corps, members of Congress, mission partners and community supporters.
Since the February 2007 publication of their book, Lee and her husband Bob have helped put a face on the serious issue of traumatic brain injury (TBI) among returning Iraq and Afghanistan war veterans, as well as the millions of Americans who live with this often invisible, but life-changing affliction. TVC’s Discharge Upgrade Program provides nationwide pro bono legal representation to veterans with Other Than Honorable discharges for conduct caused by post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and TBI, out of a belief that PTSD and TBI resulting from service should not preclude veterans from receiving the benefits and respect they deserve.
Woodruff has been a contributing reporter for Good Morning America. Her best-selling book Perfectly Imperfect — A Life in Progress, was followed by her first novel Those We Love Most, which became a New York Times best seller.
As the Master of Ceremonies, Ms. Woodruff will assist The Veterans Consortium is recognizing the contribution of our volunteers, the experiences of the veterans we serve, and the important role that TVC continues to play in serving veterans and their families, caregivers, and survivors as they obtain access to justice, seeking the benefits and compensation they were promised.
