City Harvest announced today that it will honor Lise & Michael Evans, Chelsea Clinton, and Chef Geoffrey Zakarian at its 23rd annual gala, Evening of Practical Magic.

The event, which will be hosted by Zac Posen, will take place on Tuesday, April 25th at Cipriani 42nd Street and feature a performance by Ja Rule.

Lise and Michael Evans, members of the City Harvest family since 2009, will receive the Harry & Misook Doolittle Heart of the City Award for their ongoing commitment to helping City Harvest feed hungry New Yorkers. Michael Evans is a City Harvest Board member. Chelsea Clinton, Vice Chair of the Clinton Foundation, will be presented with the City Harvest Award for Commitment, for her dedication to supporting the organization’s work through volunteerism with the Clinton Foundation’s Day of Action program. Geoffrey Zakarian, City Harvest Food Council chairman and chef/owner of The Lambs Club, will receive the Mnuchin Family Award for Excellence for bringing together the city’s restaurant community to raise funds, food and awareness for City Harvest’s mission.

Guests, dressed in Garden Festive attire, can look forward to a special evening including cocktails and a silent auction, followed by an elegant dinner and dynamic live auction which will feature a private omakase dinner for six in the winner’s home by Masa Takayama, a private concert and cocktail party for 20 guests with violinist Joshua Bell in his Flatiron apartment, and a dinner for up to 20 guests in the winner’s home by Eric Ripert. City Harvest Food Council member Chrissy Teigen, lifestyle expert Martha Stewart, and actor JJ Feild are expected to attend. Sirius XM Radio host and actress/comedienne Sandra Bernhard and actress Bridget Moynahan will serve as special guest presenters. Celebrity chefs in attendance will include Eric Ripert, Dominque Ansel, Masa Takayama, Ted Allen, Donatella Arpaia, and Michael Anthony.

At the event, City Harvest will launch its “1.4 Million Reasons to Believe” campaign to raise an additional $1.4 million in funds by June 30 to help fill its trucks with food for the nearly 1.4 million residents struggling to put meals on their tables regularly. City Harvest supporters will also be invited to share the reasons they believe in City Harvest via social media using the hashtag #IBelieveinCityHarvest.

Evening of Practical Magic is generously sponsored by Stella Artois, Citi, Evian, Patrón Tequila, Westfield World Trade Center, Breville, Mandarin Oriental New York, and I. Halper.

Proceeds from the event support City Harvest’s work of rescuing good food that would otherwise go to waste and delivering it to hungry New Yorkers — a mission that has been referred to as “practical magic.” City Harvest’s goal is to raise $2.3 million from the event – enough to help feed over 8,400 families for a year.
