The Cedars-Sinai Board of Governors honors Adele and Beny Alagem with the Philanthropic Leadership Award and Sylvester Stallone with the Heart of Hollywood Award at their 2016 Gala, Thursday, Oct. 20, 2016, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

The always sold-out event will again feature Jay Leno as host with a performance by Broadway and Glee singing sensation Matthew Morrison. Event Chairs are Paul Guerin and Robert Barth.

Proceeds from the event benefit the Cedars-Sinai Board of Governors Regenerative Medicine Institute. Under the leadership of Clive Svendsen, PhD, the Kerry and Simone Vickar Family Foundation Distinguished Chair in Regenerative Medicine, the world-renowned institute advances the field of regenerative medicine by translating laboratory discoveries into ground-breaking stem-cell-based treatments for skeletal disorders and diseases of the brain, eye, pancreas, liver and blood.

For the 12th consecutive year, Lexus has joined forces with the Board of Governors as title sponsor for the gala event. Lexus will donate a 2017 Lexus LX 450H Hybrid Drive luxury vehicle to be raffled that evening. Only 500 raffle tickets will be sold.

Honorees Adele and Beny Alagem, as two of the city’s most dedicated philanthropists, have leant their passion and support to a host of organizations close to their hearts, including Cedars-Sinai.

“The brilliant team at the Board of Governors Regenerative Medicine Institute is making daily advances in new treatments for devastating diseases,” commented Beny Alagem. “When the work at Cedars-Sinai can benefit so many, we have a responsibility to do what we can, when we can, to further that good work.”

“Adele and Beny Alagem have been providing generous, consistent, heartfelt support to our community for decades,” commented Paul Guerin, gala chair. “They are tireless advocates for healthcare, the arts, Israel, Jewish history and heritage, veterans, the disabled, animals…and the list goes on. They are exemplars of a humble commitment to be the consistent and reliable cornerstones of many worthy causes.”

Beny is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Alagem Capital Group and Oasis West Realty, an asset management firm that owns The Beverly Hilton Hotel and The Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills. Adele was born and raised in Beverly Hills and met Beny who was born in Jaffa, Israel after his graduation from Cal Poly Pomona. They were married in 1980.

Sylvester Stallone, world-renowned actor, writer and director, will be honored with the Heart of Hollywood Award for his philanthropic work.

“Sylvester Stallone is one of the most recognized Americans on the planet,” said Leslie Spivak, Board of Governors Chair. “His creative work alone has provided more hope and inspiration to those challenged by life’s inequities than we will ever know.”

Academy Award nominee Stallone first gained the attention of audiences in playing the now iconic title role in his own screenplay, Rocky, which won the Best Picture Academy Award in 1976. This has been followed by more than four decades of starring roles in feature films, many of which he also wrote and directed, including Rambo, The Expendables and their sequels, Demolition Man, Copland, Get Carter and other motion pictures that have cemented Stallone’s stature as an icon in the entertainment industry. An accomplished artist, Stallone is also a dedicated philanthropist and supports several causes close to his heart. Off screen, he has quietly used his celebrity to provide generous support for countless years for a number of worthy causes.
