Women’s Health Magazine, the fastest-growing international women’s magazine with a global audience of 32 million; FEED, the social business founded by philanthropist and social entrepreneur, Lauren Bush Lauren; and presenting sponsor Macy’s, have partnered for the 5th annual RUN 10 FEED 10 race series across the U.S with a mission to help fight domestic hunger.

After hosting this year’s flagship races in Chicago and in New York City this month, Women’s Health SVP/Publisher and Managing Director Laura Frerer-Schmidt announced that the program has crossed a benchmark, raising over 5 million meals for Americans in need since its launch in 2012.

The New York City race, hosted by Good Morning America Chief Meteorologist Ginger Zee, took place on September 18, where thousands of participants raced down the West Side Highway for a timed 10K or 5K run with proceeds supporting New York City Metropolitan Food Banks. Prior to race day, Women’s Health, along with Macy’s President Jeff Gennette, Ginger Zee, and FEED founder Lauren Bush Lauren, lit the iconic Empire State Building red to raise awareness for the fight against domestic hunger.

RUN 10 FEED 10 has grown tremendously since we began the program five years ago,” says Frerer-Schmidt. "The race series offers readers a measureable way to give back, and the opportunity to do something good for others while doing something good for themselves. By continuing our “Run on Your Own” partnership with Runtastic, and making the program even more accessible for consumers with the addition of our 5K race option this year, we’ve brought participation to reach over 1,000 cities. The more people who run, whether that’s at one of our flagship events or in their own neighborhoods, the more we can make a difference."

The RUN 10 FEED 10 concept is simple: RUN a 10K and FEED 10 hungry people in your hometown. On October 29, RUN 10 FEED 10 will host a timed race at the famed Golden Gate Bridge with special guest host Beth Behrs, star of CBS’s Two Broke Girls and author of The Total Me-Tox Health and Wellness Guide. Each flagship run includes giveaways from sponsors Macy’s, Aveeno, Geico, Hydroxycut, Purely Inspired, and Vitafusion. Each registered participant will receive a limited-edition FEED bag, FEED bracelet and have 10 meals donated locally on their behalf.
