The NFL Players Association is proud to announce its inaugural NFLPA Jersey Friday campaign to be held Friday, November 6.
The driving force behind the NFLPA Jersey Friday promotion is to give fans the opportunity to show pride for their favorite on-field stars by wearing an NFL player jersey to work, school or play.
“The NFLPA is all about finding unique ways to help players make connections with fans and with the business community,” said New York Giants running back Shane Vereen. “We love opportunities to thank people for their support. I know my family and I are excited to participate in NFLPA Jersey Friday, and I can’t wait to see photos of fans across the country wearing jerseys on November 6!”
NFLPA Jersey Friday will proudly benefit Got Your 6, an official NFLPA charitable partner. Got Your 6 is a campaign that unites veteran-focused nonprofit, Hollywood, and government partners. The group believes veterans are leaders and problem solvers who have the unique potential to strengthen our communities.
The NFLPA is encouraging workplaces and schools nationwide to allow employees and students to wear their favorite player’s jersey on November 6 in exchange for a recommended $6 donation to Got Your 6.
“The NFLPA’s Jersey Friday campaign is an incredible opportunity to celebrate our nation’s favorite sport and players, while also bringing attention to our nation’s veterans,” said Rob Gordon, President of Be The Change, the parent organization for Got Your 6. “All fans who participate will be directly supporting veterans and their families, and we thank them for doing so.”
One lucky fan has the chance to win a prize for sharing a picture in his or her jersey and a post about why the player on the jersey is his or her favorite. The grand prize winner will receive a donation in his or her honor to Got Your 6, along with signed memorabilia and a personal social media shout-out from his or her favorite player.
“NFLPA Jersey Friday is another way to promote the players and let fans celebrate players’ successes. Everyone has a favorite player – whether it’s a hometown hero, a running back who saved your fantasy season or the cornerback from your freshman dorm who made a game-winning interception during rivalry week,” said Ahmad Nassar, president of NFL Players, Inc., the licensing and marketing subsidiary of the NFLPA. “This campaign uniquely encourages fans to not just wear a jersey but to also highlight what makes that player special to them. Every single day, the NFLPA promotes more than 1,800 active players through marketing and licensing opportunities. We hope this elicits another meaningful way for fans to show player pride while also supporting a great cause.”
Fans should stay tuned to social media for messages and instructions from their favorite players in the lead-up to November 6, as well. Follow #NFLPAJerseyFriday to be part of the conversation.
