Welsh recycle and re-use charity toogoodtowaste are celebrating their 20th anniversary this year, and they had a special visitor visit their Ynyshir branch last week.

Michael Sheen OBE attended their celebratory event on Friday 31st July 2015. Michael was inspired by the organisation after hearing all the excellent community work that they carry out and wanted to learn more about them. During his visit Michael was given a full tour of their charity showroom, including their newly extended retail space and bric-a-brac area. He was also one of the first to see their newly introduced pre-owned clothing section that they hope will be a further help to the communities they serve. Michael was also given an exciting behind the scenes tour looking at their new sort facility and training room.

During the tour Michael was introduced to the dedicated, loyal volunteers and staff members in their natural working environment as well as some partner organisations that the charity works closely with.

“It has been an incredibly exciting visit and a signpost into the future,” said the actor. "I’ve witnessed a real respect here for people and for the community. That is combined with a sheer happiness of people just to be working here.

“You’ve got people from school age right up to older volunteers, all working together in a nurturing environment. It’s an extraordinary place. People who are in need come here and they find what they are looking for.

“There is a massive inequality in our society and we all have to look after each other, to work together to get through the hard times.
