The American Cancer Society will present its annual Birthday Ball during National Cancer Survivors weekend on June 6, 2015 at the famed Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills.

The ball, hosted by Academy Award-winner Kathy Bates, will feature a live performance by Katharine McPhee of American Idol and Smash.

For more than 100 years, the American Cancer Society has led the fight to end cancer as a major health problem. With generous support from millions of people, the Society has translated research findings into action, seeing a 20% decline in US cancer death rates since the early 1990s. Funds raised by the Birthday Ball will continue to support essential research, free patient services, and prevention and early detection education over a spectacular evening filled with world-class entertainment, live and silent auctions, and food and drink.

The 2015 Birthday Ball Mission Honoree is Jonathan E. Fielding, who has contributed to the fields of public health and prevention for 45 years. He is Professor of Health Policy and Management and Pediatrics at the University of California, Los Angeles, where he has been a tenured faculty member since 1979. The public health school was renamed the UCLA Jonathan and Karin Fielding School of Public Health in 2012 in recognition of their generosity and Dr. Fielding’s many contributions to improving the public’s health.

This year’s Foundation Honoree is the Farrah Fawcett Foundation, which was established before her death from anal cancer in 2009. Their mission is to fund innovative cancer research, promote prevention and awareness, and help those struggling with cancer today. The Foundation funds groundbreaking research by numerous doctors and institutions. They are also committed to raising awareness, such as early detection, and encouraging more studies in the prevention of this dreadful disease. The Foundation is also proud to collaborate with Stand Up 2 Cancer in creating the FFF/SU2C transitional research team dedicated to finding a cure for all HPV-related cancers. More than 400 guests are expected to attend this year’s Birthday Ball, including business and philanthropic leaders, corporate sponsors, key entertainment industry influencers, and celebrities. Media sponsors include the Los Angeles Business Journal and LA Travel Magazine.
