North Shore Animal League America, the world’s largest no-kill animal rescue and adoption organization, will hold its annual Celebrity Gala on Friday, November 14th at 6:30 p.m. at the Plaza Hotel in New York City to celebrate saving over 1 million innocent lives of dogs and cats in the last 70 years.
The event will be hosted by Nate Berkus, and Honorary Co-Chairs are Beth and Howard Stern.
The event will benefit North Shore Animal League America’s largest life-saving project yet – Bianca’s Furry Friends Feline Adoption & Wellness Center.
The Gala will support North Shore Animal League America’s ever-expanding no-kill mission with all proceeds from the event dedicated to Bianca’s Furry Friends, a 14,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art Feline Adoption & Wellness Center that will host a cage-free, natural living environment for felines. This expansion to our shelter will also open up space on the first floor to enrich the lives of the dogs there; enabling us to provide the best quality of life for all the animals in our care while they await adoption into permanent homes.
Fittingly, in addition to the human celebrities making guest appearances at this star-studded event, North Shore Animal League America will also be unveiling its newest celebrity animal. Blaze, the Animal League’s very first “Blade Runner Dog,” was rescued by North Shore Animal League America after he was abandoned on the streets of the Cayman Islands with an amputated front paw. Once arriving at the League, a select group of medical staff teamed up to design and construct this young adult Mutt-i-gree his very own cutting edge, custom prosthetic leg. Blaze now has a new lease on life and he will be revealing his new leg at the Gala; yet another example of the extraordinarily lengths North Shore Animal League America will go to rescue, nurture and adopt animals in need.
