Justin Timberlake as the winner of the Nordoff Robbins O2 Silver Clef Award for the Best Live Act of 2014 on Friday at London’s Hilton Hotel on Park Lane.
The singer was honored alongside performers such as Jimmy Page, Black Sabbath, Pharrell Williams, Paloma Faith, Tom Jones and more.
An expert music industry panel shortlisted the ten best live artists who have toured in the last year, then the vote lay in the hands of the public who voted on Twitter and via the Nordoff Robbins website.
Beating off competition from the other 9 nominees, Justin Timberlake came top of the poll with just under half a million votes (469,906). The other nominees were Arcade Fire, Arctic Monkeys, Disclosure, Fleetwood Mac, Foals, Muse, London Grammar, Rolling Stones and Rudimental.
In 2013, Justin Timberlake embarked on ‘The 20/20 Experience World Tour’, his fifth concert tour as a solo artist that critics claim kept audiences ‘hypnotised’. With Tom Ford designing the costumes and featuring chart toppers ‘Pusher Love Girl’, ‘Like I Love You’ and ‘Cry Me A River’, Timberlake had two shows in the O2 Arena within his UK tour.
Chris Edmonds, Chairman of Ticketmaster UK, commented: "Justin Timberlake has always blown away fans with his incredible live performances. Currently in the midst of his extremely successful world tour, the ‘Suit & Tie’ singer will be back in the UK in August for his headline spot at V Festival.
“With a very strong shortlist this year for the Best Live Act Award, it was tough competition but Justin clearly came out on top with nearly half a million fan votes. Congratulations Justin!”
The Award and vote was supported by Bauer Radio Stations Absolute Radio and Magic 105.4.
Nick Snaith, Magic 105.4 Drivetime Host and Award Presenter said: “Justin Timberlake has developed into one of the world’s most prolific entertainers, and is a well-.deserved winner of this award. The power of music is undeniable, and this award not only celebrates an artist at the top of his game – but an organisation that transforms people’s lives through incredible music therapy”.
This is the fourth year of the Best Live Act Award. Previous winners include One Direction (2013), McFly (2012) and Sir Paul McCartney (2011). Of the 10 Awards presented at the O2 Silver Clefs, Best Live Act is the only one voted for by the public.
The O2 Silver Clef Awards have been bringing together artists from all areas of the music industry since 1976 to raise support for thousands of people across the UK who need the vital engagement of music therapy.
