A number of stars gathered at the Capshaw-Spielberg Center For Arts & Educational Justice in Santa Monica on Wednesday for Poetic Justice 2014, benefiting the Coalition for Engaged Education.
The event launched a new name for the New Visions Foundation and raised awareness of the importance of Engaged Education. The message was one of hope and empowerment while celebrating the communities served by Coalition for Engaged Education.
Attended by Steven Spielberg, the night included music and poetry written by esteemed poets and students alike, read by both students and featured luminaries such as Jack Black, Baron Davis, Zooey Deschanel, Sally Field, Jonah Hill, Edward Norton, Gwyneth Paltrow, Maya Rudolph, and others.
Coalition for Engaged Education is a non profit organization devoted to connecting drop-outs, foster, and incarcerated youth with educational opportunities. They work with individual students to ignite their passion, connect them with educational partners, and co-create self-sustaining lives, thereby serving as a model for social justice.
