Every young student across the nation deserves a chance to feel like a prince or princess on their prom night – regardless of their financial situation.

Prom is an important part of the high-school experience and yet rising costs have made it increasingly difficult for under-privileged high school students to participate. Some schools are charging upwards of $150 per student simply to attend! And this does not include the dress, tuxedo, shoes and various accoutrements.

Planet Hope saw a need and decided to take action by enlisting co-founders Sharon and Kelly Stone and some extremely generous friends and supporters to provide dresses, shoes and accessories to 1000 students who would otherwise not be able to attend prom. High Schools in several states will benefit, including Los Angeles, Tennessee, Oregon, Florida, Pennsylvania, Iowa, Texas, Massachusetts, Illinois and Virginia.

“Planet Hope is proud to help high school girls feel beautiful from the inside out on prom night,” said the Stone sisters.

Founded in 1993 by sisters Kelly & Sharon Stone, Planet Hope provides help to the homeless, abused, and terminally ill children. Planet Hope Programs include: Summer Camp, Food and Warmth Resources, Emergency Referral Programs and Hope for the Holidays. “HOPE FOR THE HOLIDAYS” is one of the core programs of Planet Hope. Each year 12,000 gifts and toys are given to children living in homeless or abuse shelters and children living in hospitals with terminal diseases. Additionally, Planet Hope provides sleeping bags for the homeless living on the streets of Los Angeles. Last year they distributed 1700 sleeping bags downtown on Christmas Eve.

“Hope is the state which promotes the desire of positive outcomes related to events and circumstances in one’s life or in the world at large. Despair is often regarded as the opposite of hope.” Currently, there are 58,000 people in DESPAIR in Los Angeles and all they have is HOPE!
