The world’s biggest DJs and pop stars are coming together for charity.
Following the global success of the 2012 DANCE (RED) SAVE LIVES music compilation – which topped the iTunes dance charts at #1 in 33 countries – (RED) together with today’s hottest dance artists, including Avicii, Baauer, Benny Benassi, Bingo Players, Calvin Harris, Dada Life, deadmau5, Major Lazer, Martin Solveig, RL Grime, Swedish House Mafia, Tiesto, Tommy Trash and many more, announce DANCE (RED) SAVE LIVES2.
The ultimate soundtrack to this year’s World AIDS Day weekend celebrations, the DANCE (RED) SAVE LIVES2 compilation features new and original collaborative dance tracks, plus remixes of Robin Thicke, Katy Perry, Empire of the Sun, and Far East Movement. Proceeds from the sales of DANCE (RED) SAVE LIVES2 go to the Global Fund to fight AIDS.
Produced in partnership with Capitol Music Group’s Priority Records and Recreation Worldwide, DANCE (RED) SAVE LIVES2 will be released on iTunes on November 25, 2013 with pre-orders available now: iTunes.com/DanceRED.
Luke Steele/Nick Littlemore of Empire of the Sun commented, “DANCE (RED) SAVE LIVES2 is about celebrating how far we’ve come in the fight against AIDS while also uniting the world around this incredible opportunity we have to deliver an AIDS Free Generation within the near future. We are honoured and delighted that the Tommy Trash remix of ‘Celebrate’ has been chosen for this album.”
Beginning on November 30 in Sydney, Australia where (RED) will be renewing its partnership with Stereosonic Festival, DANCE (RED) SAVE LIVES2 will kick off a 24-hour dance party taking place across the 2013 World AIDS Day weekend. Stereosonic Sydney will be live-streamed on VICE’s electronic music and culture channel, THUMP, via its YouTube channel, bringing dance music fans an unforgettable live global music experience. The lineup from the recently expanded two-day Stereosonic festival includes David Guetta, Calvin Harris, Sebastian Ingrosso, Empire of the Sun, Armin van Buuren, Axwell, Above & Beyond, Afrojack, {celebrity:Krewella, and more. Continuing the celebrations, (RED) will also host a series of DANCE (RED) SAVE LIVES2 parties in major cities across the globe: Singapore, Mexico City, Johannesburg, London, New York and Los Angeles.
"Stereosonic brings the biggest names in dance music together to create a festival like no other. Our partnership with (RED) to support DANCE (RED) SAVE LIVES2 makes the event a truly global dance phenomenon, and we’re proud to play a role in rallying these huge DJs to join the AIDS fight," adds Richie McNeill, Stereosonic’s Managing Director.
In addition to THUMP, the DANCE (RED) SAVE LIVES2 live-stream will be available throughout World AIDS Day weekend across leading media properties such as WIRED, Rolling Stone, iHeartRadio and LETV in China. Promotion for DANCE (RED) SAVE LIVES2 includes a pro bono media campaign by Hill Holliday across leading digital platforms, television and radio networks, print publications and outdoor media including CNN, A&E Networks (A&E, History, Biography and Lifetime), Fuse, Posterscope & Lamar, Twitter, Viacom International Media Networks – Americas, The FADER, People.com, NASDAQ OMX and Clear Channel Media and Entertainment.
Adds Deborah Dugan, CEO, (RED), “With the end of AIDS now within the world’s grasp, we have so much to lose if we don’t make a lot of noise. That’s exactly what this album is designed to achieve. We’ve brought together a powerhouse team of artists and partners to ignite a movement that will be amplified in all corners of the world for this year’s World AIDS Day.”
Josh Neuman, CEO of Recreation Worldwide, the creative agency behind DANCE (RED) SAVE LIVES2 notes, “The passion and generosity of the artists, brands and media partners we’ve assembled to engage a global audience with (RED) has been profoundly inspiring. We are all excited to see the campaign grow tremendously since its inception last year.”
The announcement comes as (RED) and its partners mark an important milestone in the fight against AIDS, having generated more than $215 million for the Global Fund to fight AIDS in Africa. The war against AIDS faces a critical battle: to deliver the first AIDS Free Generation since HIV was diagnosed 32 years ago. In sub-Saharan Africa, it costs only 40 cents a day for two lifesaving pills that can prevent HIV positive mothers from transmitting the virus to their unborn children. Today, 700 babies are born with the virus. It’s possible that number can soon be near zero. Ending mother-to-child transmission of HIV is a component of the UN Millennium Development Goals to be achieved by 2015.
The DANCE (RED) SAVE LIVES2 album artwork features a collaborative design by pioneering graffiti artist and graphic designer, Futura, and German design student Ramona Ring as part of (RED)’s global design competition with Adobe Creative Cloud.
