Founded by Paul O’Neil, the Trans-Siberian Orchestra is an American prog-rock band. The band’s musical style incorporates classical, orchestral, symphonic, and progressive elements into hard rock and heavy metal. Although the band has a wide-range of musicians, the core group is Paul O’Neil, Jon Oliva, Al Pitrelli and Robert Kinkel.
The band have toured the world, including a yearly autumn/winter tour, showing their impressive rock-operas, such as Christmas Eve and Other Stories, The Christmas Attic, and The Lost Christmas Eve.
Aside from their music, the band are well known for their charity work. Every year they raise money for Little Kids Rock and sit on their board of directors. Whilst on tour, they donate at least $1 of every ticket price to a charity local to the venue. In doing this they have raised money for The Salvation Army, Levine Children’s Hospital, the Richmond Animal League, the Marine’s charity, Toys for Tots and various groups within the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.
