Mitch Albom is an internationally renowned and best-selling author, journalist, screenwriter, playwright, radio and television broadcaster, musician and philanthropist. A columnist for the Detroit Free Press, Albom is perhaps best known for his books, Tuesdays with Morrie, The Five People You Meet in Heaven, and his latest novel, The Magic Strings of Frankie Presto. Albom wrote Tuesdays with Morrie to help pay the medical bills incurred by his professor Morrie Schwartz, who was dying of ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis). Inspired his visits with Schwartz— who told him, “giving is living,” Albom began to form charities in the mid-1990s in and around the Detroit metro area.

Today, there are more than ten independent efforts working to help those who need it most around the world, including.

The Dream Fund, A Time To Help, and SAY Detroit.
