Gary took up the fight against Leukaemia after his son was diagnosed as a baby in 1992. Gary and his wife were patrons of Leukaemia Busters between 1994 and 2005, and he has appeared in adverts for CLIC Sargent, encouraging people to donate blood.
Lineker opened a new branch of Leukaemia CARE in 2006.
